Solutions & Applications

Custom Magnetic Coiled Charging Cable for Tablets & Docking Systems

The 3-Pin Magnetic Coiled Charging Cable provides a flexible power connection for compatible tablets, medical terminals, docking stations and smart devices. The magnetic spring-contact interface helps simplify device-side alignment, while the TPU coiled structure keeps excess cable length organized.

For OEM/ODM projects, spring-contact layout, magnetic positioning structure, pin assignment, cable length, wire gauge, voltage/current configuration and termination method can be developed according to the finished-device design. The cable can also be integrated into broader Medical Charging Cables or Medical Docking & Charging Solutions.

Heymed Medical supports device interface review, contact-layout design, electrical configuration, cable structure development, prototype sampling, charging verification and volume manufacturing. Customers can provide device drawings, contact-pad layouts, pin definitions, electrical requirements or existing samples for engineering evaluation.

3-Pin Magnetic Spring-Contact Coiled Charging Cable for Medical Tablets and Docking Systems

This retractable charging cable combines an open-wire termination with a compact 3-pin magnetic spring-contact connector, providing a flexible power connection for medical tablets, mobile healthcare terminals, docking stations and other compatible portable devices.

The coiled TPU cable extends when the connected device is moved and returns toward a compact form when released, helping reduce excess loose cable around carts, workstations and docking equipment. The open-wire end also gives equipment manufacturers greater flexibility when integrating the cable directly into a power module, internal wire harness, docking base or custom PCBA.

Retractable Coiled Cable for Mobile and Frequently Handled Equipment

Cable management becomes especially important when a tablet or handheld terminal is repeatedly removed from a charging position and moved around the working area. A conventional straight cable may leave unnecessary cable on the workstation or require additional routing and retention components.

The spring-coiled structure allows the cable to extend during use while keeping a large portion of the cable gathered when the device is returned. This makes the design useful for medical carts, bedside terminals, clinical workstations, mobile equipment and docking systems where both movement range and cable organization need to be considered.

Coil diameter, extended length, straight sections at both ends and cable stiffness can be reviewed according to the customer's required movement range and installation space.

Magnetic Alignment with a Compact 3-Contact Charging Interface

The device-side connector combines magnetic alignment with three spring-loaded electrical contacts. The magnetic structure helps guide the connector toward the matching interface, while the spring contacts maintain electrical contact across a controlled range of mechanical travel.

This architecture can simplify repeated charging connections compared with a conventional plug that must be manually aligned and inserted each time. It is particularly useful for tablets and mobile terminals that are frequently connected and disconnected during daily operation.

Magnetic connector appearance alone does not determine compatibility. Contact pitch, connector dimensions, magnetic orientation, polarity and electrical pin assignment must all match the target device or docking interface.

Key Engineering Details to Confirm Before Sampling

Power requirements: target voltage, operating current and maximum load should be confirmed according to the equipment power architecture.

Pin definition: positive, negative and any additional contact function must follow the approved device-side wiring definition.

Magnetic orientation: magnet position and polarity should be matched with the mating connector to ensure correct alignment.

Wire gauge: conductor size should be selected according to current, cable length and acceptable voltage drop.

Coiled cable geometry: retracted length, extended length, coil diameter and straight-end sections can be developed around the installation environment.

Mechanical integration: connector mounting, strain relief, cable exit direction and open-wire termination can be designed around the finished device or docking system.

Open-Wire Termination for Direct Equipment Integration

Unlike a cable fitted with a fixed USB or DC plug at both ends, the open-wire termination allows the charging cable to be integrated directly into the customer's equipment. The conductors can be connected to a power module, internal terminal, wire harness, docking-station PCBA or other approved electrical assembly.

This is particularly useful for OEM and ODM projects where the external charging interface is visible to the user but the opposite end of the cable remains inside the equipment. Wire length, stripping dimensions, conductor preparation and terminal treatment can therefore be developed according to the internal assembly process.

For complete device charging architectures, the cable can be developed together with a Magnetic Pogo Pin Tablet Charging Dock to create a coordinated cable, connector and docking solution.

Built Around the Actual Tablet, Dock or Medical Terminal

A magnetic charging cable should be developed around the actual equipment interface rather than selected only by the number of contacts. Device housing geometry, charging voltage, current requirement, connector position and magnetic mating direction all influence the final cable configuration.

Heymed Medical can review device drawings, connector dimensions, electrical diagrams, existing samples or 3D information before preparing an engineering prototype. This allows the connector, cable and power path to be checked together before the project moves toward volume production.

Additional connector and docking structures are available through our Pogo Pin, Magnetic & FPC Components range.

From Prototype Validation to OEM/ODM Production

During prototype development, the cable can be evaluated for connector mating, magnetic orientation, pin-to-pin continuity, charging performance, cable extension and recovery, strain relief and dimensional fit according to the approved project specification.

Where required by the project, additional electrical and mechanical verification such as contact resistance, temperature rise, pull force and connection-cycle testing can be defined according to the customer's equipment requirements and final cable configuration.

Once the electrical and mechanical design is confirmed, the cable can move into controlled assembly, inspection and batch production, with wire gauge, overmolding, color, labels and packaging finalized according to the approved OEM specification.
